The
month of August is more than capable to make you forget the rest of the
world while you sit in front of the big screen, enamoured by all the
action happening in front of you. There is so much exciting stuff
happening in the world of entertainment this month, we doubt you’ll have
time to do anything else with your life.
In the first week of the month itself, there's a Fast & Furious spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw,
featuring Dawyne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Jason Statham. Following that, a
treat lies in store for all those K-Pop fans out there, as BTS’s
movie is finally releasing in India. Following that we will see
Sidharth Malhotra, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Parmish Verma in action as
well.
Independence Day is going to make you want to spend the entire day at the movie theatre, thanks to the movies like Mission Mangal and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. But don’t forget - August 15 is also the release date of the much-awaited second season of Sacred Games on Netflix.
And in the second half of the month, we will once again get to see Dulquer Salmaan and Prabhas on the big screen with Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal and Saaho, respectively.
Like we said, it’s going to be hard to keep up with all the pop culture that will be set into motion in August 2019.

Hobbs & Shaw
A spin-off of the Fast & Furious franchise, Hobbs & Shaw
will have two arch rivals, Luke Hobbs (Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson) and
Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), form a team. Their aim is to stop a
cyber-genetically enhanced terrorist from weaponizing a deadly virus.
Khandaani Shafakhana
Sonakshi
Sinha plays the role of Baby Bedi, who has been entrusted to run her
uncle’s sex clinic for a period of six months. This however seems to be
quite the task for her, due to the reluctance of the community to openly
discuss sexual matters.

This
film will follow the popular K-Pop band, BTS, and give their fans an
inside glimpse of the world away from the stage. It will feature
intimate discussions with the group members alongside some concert
performances.

Nerkonda Paarvai
Nerkonda Paarvai is the Tamil remake of Pink,
with Ajith Kumar playing the iconic role of the retired lawyer that was
embodied by Amitabh Bachchan. It will tell the story of how the lawyer
defends three young women who have been implicated in a criminal case.
Kalki
Tovin Thomas, who last delivered the hit Malayalam film, Luca, is back with another film, Kalki. While not a lot is known about its plot line, what we do know is that it’s an investigative thriller based on true events.

Jabariya Jodi
After Hasee Toh Phasee, Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra come together once again for Jabariya Jodi.
Abhay Singh (Sidharth) is a thug who kidnaps grooms to have them get
married without dowry, but he dreams of becoming an MLA. Babli Yadav
(Parineeti) however isn’t going to make the road easy for him. The film
also features Javed Jaffrey and Sanjay Mishra in supporting roles.
Kurukshetra
The
film is a take on the Mahabharata with Duryodhana as the main
protagonist. It features Darshan Thoogudeep, Nikhil Gowda, Arjun Sarja
and V Ravichandran in prominent roles. It is set to release in multiple
languages like Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Dora And the Lost City of Gold
Based
on the cartoons that we all saw growing up, Dora is actually stepping
out for a real adventure. Along with her group of teenage friends as
well as her sidekick, Boots the Monkey go looking for the lost Incan
civilization.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
If
you’re looking for some spook factor, be sure to check out this film. A
group of teenagers come across the haunted Bellows family mansion,
where a tortured girl called Sarah had her life turn into a series of
scary stories. And in this mansion, each of teenagers see every one of
her stories come alive.
Artemis Fowl
Artemis
Fowl is a 12-year-old genius, who comes from a family of criminal
masterminds. He is on the lookout for his father whose disappearance is
somehow connected to the reclusive yet advanced fairy world. The film is
based on the children’s book of the same name written by Eoin Colfer.
Manmadhudu 2
Nagarjuna
Akkineni and Rakul Preet Singh come together in this romcom, which is a
sequel to the one that released back in 2002. While the plot of the
upcoming film isn’t known clearly, the one that released 17 years ago,
had Nagarjuna play a misogynist who is forced to work with Sonali
Bendre.
Ye Re Ye Re Paisa 2
The
first part of the Marathi film featuring Sanjay Narvekar, Umesh Kamat,
Siddhartha Jadhav and Tejaswini Pandit did decently well. The second
part which will feature Aniket Vishwarao, Mrinmayee Godbole and will see
Narvekar reprise his role is also set to be a mad cap comedy.
Kempegowda 2
Cop
Kempegowda sets out to unveil a political conspiracy about the
elections, which puts him against some top-tier leaders and tycoons.
This Kannada film is also set to feature former cricketer S Sreesanth.
Pailwaan
Pailwaan
featuring Kiccha Sudeep as the protagonist, is an action drama based on
the Indian sport of Kushti, directed by S Krishna. It will also star
Sunil Shetty and will release in various languages like Kannada,
Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.
Panther
Jeet
Madnani plays the role of one of the best RAW agents who goes by the
name of Panther. The Bengali film follows him across the country on his
mission to defeat a major terrorist group.
Singham (Punjabi)
Punjabi
heartthrob Parmish Verma plays the role of DSP Dilsher Sikhon, in
charge of the Singham Khurd. He aims to reduce the drug addiction rate
among the youth of the state but the road to that destination is not an
easy one.

Mangalyaan. Playing the reel-life ISRO scientists responsible for this
feat are Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu and Sonakshi Sinha to
name a few. Be prepared to be filled with patriotic pride.
Batla House
This
films tells the controversial tale of real-life story of the encounters
that took place at the Batla House in Delhi in 2008, following the
September 13 bombings. It features John Abraham as the lead investigator
of the mission and also stars Prakash Raj, Mrunal Thaker and Ravi
Kishan.
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood
Leonardo
DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino come together to recreate the
final chapter of the golden era of Hollywood. Set in 1969, the film
revolves around a fading TV star and his long time stunt double navigate
through an industry that is changing heavily. The film also features
Margot Robbie and is almost a tribute to that era gone by.

their mobster husbands get arrested, the wives take over their gangster
organization and become the most powerful. The film is based in the 70s
and features Tiffany Haddish, Melissa McCarthy and Elisabeth Moss in

story of a group of friends from their college as they go on to enter

and Varun Sharma among others.
Saaho
This
film marks Prabhas’ Hindi debut and Shraddha Kapoor’s first venture
into South Indian cinema. It has a massive budget of ₹300 crore and its
teaser alone got 80 million views on YouTube, which is the second
highest for any Indian film ever. The film will release in Hindi,
Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.
47 Meters Down: Uncaged
Four
girls get adventurous and decide to take a dive into an underwater
city. Little do they know that these waters are home to a deadly shark
species.
Kaappaan
End
the month on a high note, by watching a film featuring none other than
superstar Mohanlal acting in the Tamil film Kaappaan. Adding in to the
glitz is another star, Suriya, who will also be in the lead of the
action thriller.
